The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is making major preparations for India's pivotal tour of England in June 2025. India A will prepare for the five-Test series by playing two four-day matches against the England Lions, which will commence on May 30. The games will provide some of the regular Test players with red-ball cricket practice before the actual series commences on June 20 at Headingley. In a statement, the ECB said: "The first four-day match will be hosted at The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence in Canterbury from May 30. The second match is scheduled to begin a week later on June 6 at the County Ground in Northampton." Senior Players to Be Included in India A Squad There are reports that some seasoned Test players could be requested to play for India A prior to the England tour. This would be tough on them since they are already busy playing in IPL 2025. The knockout stages of the IPL will take place on May 20, 21, and 23, with the final being held on May 25. A source told PTI: "There is enough time to announce the squad, mostly ahead of the knockouts or just after those matches. You will then get a clear picture as to which players are available by then." Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are two of those names who are likely to feature in the India A team. Rohit, who will retain his role as India's Test skipper, has not found his form with the red-ball in recent Test series, where he scored 164 runs across the last three Test series. Kohli also did not make the most out of his Perth century, managing just 23.75 for the Australia series. He may get his recall to the red-ball unit based on his good performances. Jasprit Bumrah's Fitness Under Watch India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah will also be watched closely prior to the series against England. He strained his back while playing in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and is likely to miss Mumbai Indians' first few IPL games. His fitness for the tour of England will be decided after recovery.
