India is likely to deny the "Pakistan" name on the Indian jersey for the Champions Trophy. Traditionally, the name of the hosting country is normally printed on the left side of the jersey; thus, this time it's Pakistan's turn to get their name printed, which BCCI reportedly denied. According to a report from IANS, an official from the Pakistan Cricket Board claimed that BCCI is playing politics by not letting Pakistan's name on the jersey. The source, urging to maintain anonimity, said to IANS, "BCCI is bringing politics into cricket, which is not at all good for the game. They refused to travel to Pakistan. They don't want to send their captain (to Pakistan) for the opening ceremony, now there are reports that they don't want the host nation's (Pakistan) name printed on their jersey. Thus, it was speculated that Rohit Sharma alone might have to travel to Pakistan for the photoshoot. However, BCCI president Devraj Salkia turned down such possibilities as well. Debajit Saikia, the newly appointed BCCI secretary, clarified that no proposal has been made regarding India’s captain, Rohit Sharma, traveling to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy opening ceremony. In an interview, Saikia stated that while Pakistan, as the host, stands to gain, India has yet to discuss this matter with the ICC. He stressed that such decisions require careful consideration due to their sensitive nature. Notably, the Champions Trophy 2024 is returning after 8 years and will be hosted in a hybrid model, with only India playing their three matches in Dubai. Adding to that, if India qualifies for the semifinal, then it will be hosted in Dubia, as will the final if India qualifies. Otherwise, Lahore will host the final.
