The Board of Cricket Control in India has reportedly lodged an official complaint against Pakistan's Sahibzada Farhan for his controversial celebration and against Haris Rauf for his provocative gestures. During September 21's Super Four clash between India and Pakistan, Sahibzada Farhan celebrated his half-century with a gun celebration. He was not only trolled for holding the bat upside down, but it also triggered the fans. However, in his defense, Farhan said, after the match, that it was a generalized celebration and had nothing to do it India. He said, “That celebration was just a spur-of-the-moment. I rarely celebrate when I get to fifty," he said during a post-match interaction with the media. “But when I got there, I suddenly got the idea of celebrating, and so I did without knowing or caring how people would interpret it. We should play aggressive cricket against any team, not just India, the way we played today." The crowd was chanting "Kohli-Kohli" when he gestured a plane crash movement, mainly to mock India's recent Operation Sindoor after the heinous attack on tourists at Pahalgam. During the match, too, Rauf was repeatedly verbally provoking the Indian batters, and Abhishek Sharma said that he didn't like the way the Pakistani players were coming after the Indians. Not just during the match, Haris Rauf was making wrong gestures while India was practicing at the ICC Academy in Dubai. According to a report from ESPNCricinfo, on Wednesday, the BCCI mailed the complaint to the ICC, and the ICC has acknowledged it. If Farhan and Rauf submit a written denial of the allegations, the ICC may conduct a hearing to examine the issue. They could be required to appear before match referee Richie Richardson, who is officiating alongside Andy Pycroft at the tournament. If both Rauf and Farhan fail to justify their actions, they will be heavily sanctioned as per the ICC Code of Conduct.
