BCCI is likely to delay the 2025 Champions Trophy squad, citing issues from the recently concluded Border Gavaskar Trophy in Australia. Earlier it was said that the selection committee led by Ajit Agarkar will announce the squad by January 12. However, they have requested the ICC to extend the time by at least a week. But there won't be any delay in announcing the T-20 squad for the England Series, and it will be done within a couple of days. BCCI thus will also delay announcing the ODI squad for the England series. It is expected that there won't be any major change in that for the Champions Trophy. Normally, according to the ICC's demands, all participating teams should submit their provisional team at least a month prior to the commencement of a tournament. But after coming back from a long, tiring Test series, BCCI has requested the extension. The squad is likely to be announced on January 18-19. Notably, the Champions Trophy will start on February 19.
