The BCCI has made key changes to its support staff with the instant termination of assistant coach Abhishek Nayar and fielding coach T Dilip. Soham Desai, the strength and conditioning coach, will also leave, and a new masseur will be hired prior to the June England tour. According to The Indian Express, these moves follow India's disappointing 1-3 Test series loss in Australia. Nayar came into the team last year together with head coach Gautam Gambhir. Dilip, on the other hand, was continuing his course after Rahul Dravid was given an extension of his tenure till March. To fill up Desai's shoes, BCCI has called in his replacement from South Africa by the name of Adrian Le Roux. Previously in his career, in the early 2000s, he was associated with the Indian team under John Wright. He left to join the South African national team after that. He then continued to serve the IPL with KKR (2008-2019) and as of now, is working with Punjab Kings. In the aftermath of the series loss on Australian soil, the BCCI also appointed Sitanshu Kotak as the new batting coach. Dilip had been splitting his fielding duties with assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate. Also Read | LA28: Venue finalized for cricket's Olympic comeback Letting go of Nayar comes as a surprise. It is said that the current set of players were happy with his work. Nayar had played a crucial part in grooming young talents during his time at KKR. It is doubted why the move was made by the board when his contract runs until August. Dilip's one-year extension had always been understood to be on a temporary basis. He became popular for his post-match 'fielding medal ceremony' conducted across multi-nation tournaments. In June, Team India will depart for England to play a test series of five matches there. BCCI has called in a review meeting after the loss in Australia; it introduced new policies for all players.
