The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has delayed the announcement of India’s squad for the forthcoming tour to England once again. BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia said that India’s squad would be announced on or before May 20. That was then changed to May 23, and now it looks like the announcement of the squad could happen any time during the last week of May. According to Cricbuzz, the biggest problem BCCI has been facing is the restart of the IPL 2025. Since May 8, most of BCCI’s energies have gone to reinstituting the tournament. Although IPL has resumed, it took a huge amount of time, when they were able, to re-schedule and actually book grounds. However, IPL was not the only issue BCCI had to work with. They were also working on the "A" team of India’s squad, which was announced yesterday. Moreover, they were dealing with the huge pressure of replacing both Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli, who both retired during the IPL break. They have to decide who the new Test captain will be as well, which also takes a focused thought process. One thing is undeniably true: the Indian team is departing for England on June 6. Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill are exceptions as they are already officially part of India A's squad for the second practice match versus England Lions starting on June 6 in Northampton. Gautam Gambhir will also fly with the Indian team. Earlier reports had claimed that perhaps the new head coach would have to leave before the rest of his staff, but that is not now the case. Hrishikesh Kanitkar will be with the India A side, Subhodeep Ghosh will do the fielding, and Troy Cooley will do the bowling.
