The BCCI has informed all the franchises of the Indian Premier League that there will be two marquee lists for the big and mini auctions to be held on November 24 and 25 at the Abady Al Johar Arena in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The BCCI has prepared two marquee lists comprising 8-9 star players, sources claim. That, too, is not something new as the same was done during the 2014 and 2018 auctions, while for the 2022 mega auction, there was just one marquee list. The main marquee players who are expected to be available for the bidding include Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Mohammed Siraj, Mohammed Shami, Arshdeep Singh, Ravichandran Ashwin, Mitchell Starc, and Jos Buttler among others. In a huge shock for this year's auction, Ben Stokes was another hot contender for the marquee but has opted out this time. Each of the marquee players has set a base price of INR 2 crore. Franchises are in for a great round of bidding as they are likely to spend 30-50% of their total purse by the end of the marquee rounds. On an average, every franchise is expected to pick up two marquee players, and hence, the expenses may add up to INR 20-25 crore. Now, the remaining INR 641.5 crores will be the amount that the franchises will get to spend from their pockets. Punjab Kings will look to spend the most left in their account at INR 110.5 crores to sign some of the biggest-name players. 1,574 players have been registered for the auction which comprises 1,165 Indian and 409 overseas players. The Breakdown of Players Capped Indian players: 48 Capped International players: 272 Associate players: 30 Uncapped Indians from previous IPL seasons: 152 Uncapped International players from previous IPL seasons: 3 Uncapped Indians: 965 Uncapped Internationals: 104 The best 204 of these players will be chosen, with overseas players allowed to a maximum of 70. So far, franchises have retained 46 players. The BCCI has asked the franchises to go through the initial player register and send their additions by November 12. This would be compiled into a comprehensive final auction list.
