The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the centrally contracted players for the 2024-25 season on Monday, April 21. Among the major updates, Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan have returned to the central contracts list after missing out last season. Iyer, who was previously excluded for not participating in domestic cricket, has been awarded a Grade B contract. Kishan, who opted out of the Ranji Trophy following a break from international cricket, finds himself in the Grade C list. Iyer joins the Grade B list alongside Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, Suryakumar Yadav, and Yashasvi Jaiswal. One of the notable new entries is spinner Varun Chakravarthy, who has been awarded a Grade C contract after an impressive showing in the Champions Trophy. He finished as the tournament’s second-highest wicket-taker, with nine scalps, only behind New Zealand’s Matt Henry. At the top of the list, Indian captain Rohit Sharma, Star batter Virat Kohli, Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja continue to feature in the A+ category.
