On October 31, the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises released their list of retained players. Meanwhile, there's a noteworthy update from the Women's Premier League (WPL): November 7 has been set as the deadline for all five franchises to submit their retention lists to the BCCI. Looking ahead, the IPL 2025 mega auction is scheduled for November 24 and 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. As this event approaches, the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) has officially communicated the final submission date for retention lists to the WPL franchises. Previously, the Indian board had instructed teams to finalize their lists by October 15. After that, the board will organize a mini-auction, with the date for this event yet to be confirmed. Teams are allowed to have a maximum squad size of 18 players, including six overseas members. According to FemaleCricket, the franchises: Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, UP Warriorz, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Gujarat Giants are required to meet the retention submission deadline set by the board. In the first season of the WPL, each team’s auction purse was set at 12 crore, which increased to 13.5 crore by 2024. For the upcoming season, the purse will see another rise, reaching 15 crore. Another major update is that the ICC has recently revealed its Future Tour Program (FTP), which now includes a dedicated window for franchise leagues. As part of this change, India’s flagship T20 tournament, the Women’s Premier League (WPL), will shift its start date to January beginning in 2026, moving up from its usual February schedule. Consequently, the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) will be pushed to February 2026.
