The former Pakistani cricketer and YouTuber Basit Ali has not been impressed with the practice match preparation for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He criticized India’s decision to practice behind closed doors at the WACA stadium in Perth. Team India decided to skip the planned intra-squad match to avoid injury risks, opting instead for four days of intensive match simulations. Unfortunately, during these practice sessions, KL Rahul and Shubman Gill suffered injuries. Gill's injury was severe enough to rule him out of the opening Test in Perth. He also criticized the lack of adequate preparation for the series, adding that their match practice seemed insufficient for the challenges in Australia. On his YouTube Channel, Basit Ali said: “The confidence level of the Indian team is very low. Chup ke to practice kar rahe hai (They are practicing secretly). Play as per your normal routine. You should play a match. They are not playing the match because they don't want an injury. However, there was an injury even during the practice. The preparation that should have been done before the series is missing. It doesn't matter if you reached Australia 12 days before the series or even 12 months before the series. This is not the way. You should play matches in Australia to be able to tackle their bowling.” Basit further pointed out that the hosts could pose a serious threat in the upcoming edition of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He further added: “Australia in Australia are a very dangerous side, especially according to this Indian team because they have lost 3-0 to New Zealand. The confidence level of the players and the team management is very low.”
