Dhaka police have filed a murder case against Sakib Al Hasan, a former captain of the Bangladesh cricket team, and popular actor Ferdous Ahmed in connection with the incident of killing a garment factory worker. Completly both of them thus far been accused in the case of killing factory worker Mohammed Rubel. The case has been recorded by Rafiqul with Adabar police station of Dhaka on Thursday, enumerating hundreds of naming. Among those accused is former MPs Hasan and Ahmed of deposed Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's Awami League party block. She resigned from office August 5 after weeks of protests led by students, and she left for India to seek asylum. More than a dozen cases of mooring illegal berths have been filed against Hasina, former ministers, MPs, and Awami League activists across the country. Inspector of Adabar Police Station Nazrul Islam confirmed the case against Hasan and Ahmed. Rubel was shot in clashes during the protests on August 5 and later succumbed to his injuries in hospital on August 7. The case also has Hasina, former road transport minister Obaidul Quader, and 156 others, along with 400 John Does, implicated. At Monday's hearing, the complainant alleged that Rubel was in a procession on August 5 in the Adabar area and that the accused were involved in inciting or directly ordering the firing at the procession. It has been reported that Hasan was out of the country during the protests, as he was in Canada leading the Bangla Tigers Mississauga in the Global T20 Canada league.
