Bangladesh Cricket Board officially declared the ODI series roster against Afghanistan, which will take place in the United Arab Emirates. The up-coming three-match ODI series between Bangladesh and Afghanistan will be held in the United Arab Emirates on November 6 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Najmul Hossain Shanto's captaincy was much in the air as the left-handed batter recently hinted at stepping down following uncertainties about his readiness for the leadership role. But after a crucial discussion with BCB president Faruque Ahmed, Shanto agreed to continue leading the team in the ODI format. Sources indicate that though Shanto will continue to be the captain for this series, a change in leadership roles may be in the offing for Bangladesh's other formats. One such newcomer is the uncapped fast bowler Nahid Rana. He gained his slot through a bright performance in the domestic scene. Fresh young blood has made its place for the pace department after losing a few seniors in the previous team. Liton Das, the wicket-keeper-batsman, also misses out on the series due to sickness. The pacer Tanzim Shakib could not join the tour, as he has been sent back following a shoulder injury. Other notable absentees include seasoned campaigners in the form of Anamul Haque, Taijul Islam, and Hasan Mahmud. Zakir Hasan and Nasum Ahmed, who have played some tidy matches since their comeback and will be useful assets for the Bangladesh side through this series.
