Bangladesh have announced their squad for the upcoming ODI series against West Indies, the first match of the three-match series is scheduled to be played in Basseterre, St Kitts from December 8 to 12. Najmul Hossain Shanto, the Bangladeshi regular skipper has been sidelined from the series and the responsibilities have been given to Mehidy Hasan Miraz. Bangladesh and West Indies are currently involved in a two-match Test series. The first Test match of the series was won by the West Indies in a dominant fashion, they won by a whopping 201-run margin and the second Test match is underway where Bangladesh have already been bowled out for just 164 runs in their first innings. Both Shanto and Hridoy have been recovering from a groin issue. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), on Monday, 2 December, confirmed that Mehidy Hasan Miraz will lead the team in ODIs in the absence of Najmul Hossain Shanto. The star Bangladeshi all-rounder Shakib al Hasan will miss the ODI series, previously he was also not a part of the squad that played against Afghanistan in UAE. As quoted by The Daily Star, BCB Sports physician Monzur Hossain Chowdhury said: "Hridoy had complained of pain in his right groin region and subsequent investigations have confirmed the presence of a medical condition. He has been advised rest and we will reassess him in two weeks to determine his readiness to play.” The first ODI of the three-match series is scheduled to be played on December 8 at Warner Park in Basseterre, St Kitts. The second and third ODI will also be played at the same venue on December 10 and 12 respectively.
