The iconic M. Chinnasamy Stadium in Bengaluru is not having a great time with business, especially after the deadly victory parade of Royal Challengers Bengaluru post the 2025 IPL win. Once hailed as the home ground of the franchise, the stadium is on the verge of losing its rights to host the Indian Premier League. The 2026 Indian Premier League will commence in mid-March and the Chinnaswamy hasn't yet managed to get a clearance to host any big matches that can drive a lot of fans. Notably, Chinnaswamy Stadium hosts around seven matches in the Indian Premier League. It had also hosted the 2014 and the 2016 finals and was likely to host the 2026 men's final too. However, such things are uncertain this season. A Times of India reports quoted a source saying, "There are a lot of uncertainties regarding Chinnaswamy. It has to revisit its structure, and the government authorities must be looking into it. That’s why it was not considered." The victory parade on June 4 claimed 20 lives and raised several issues regarding infrastructure and security. However, they still had hosted a domestic tournament, the K. Thimmappiah Memorial Trophy, accommodating 16 teams. However, the tournament was hosted behind closed doors. Read also: Indian Women to resume after 2 months; what's ahead of ICC World Cup?
