The 29-year-old Kamran Ghulam became the second oldest Pakistan batter to hit a century on his Test debut. The debutant Kamran Ghulam who made his Test debut in the ongoing second Test match against England after replacing out-of-form Babar Azam, has proved the selector's decision worth it. The seasoned domestic player appeared confident right from the start, handling the challenge posed by the English spinners with ease on a pitch that was favorable to spin bowling. While it was a tough decision for the selectors to remove Babar Azam from the squad for the 2nd and 3rd Tests and replace him with a newer inexperienced batter, Kamran has splendidly filled the shoes with no remarks on his capabilities, while hitting a century at number 4 position. Ghulam came onto the field at a challenging moment for his team, who were reeling at 19-2 after a disheartening collapse in their previous match. Handling the pressure remarkably well, he formed a solid 149-run partnership with the young opener Saim Ayub, eventually reaching a century off 192 balls. The entire Pakistani dressing room, led by head coach Jason Gillespie, stood up to applaud the impressive performance of the debutant.
