CSK had a pretty average IPL 2025 season, where they ended up at the bottom of the points table, having won just four out of 14 matches. Batting was subpar, as was bowling, and the team evidently lost on both fronts. But then came one of their beacons of hope, in the form of India's U19 captain Ayush Mhatre, who in 7 games scored 240 runs for them. With the reports of IPL trade involving CSK. and with R Ashwin potentially leaving, and maybe Sanju Samson possibly joining, it looks like the team could be planning to add a couple of more first-timers. According to social media rumours, it appears that the team is interested in making an investment in a young pace bowling all-rounder RS Ambrish. And for this invited him to Chennai trials. In the five Youth ODIs, he made a total of 110 runs including a fifty, and also took eight wickets. In the two Tests, he made 138 runs including two fifties, and took six wickets as well. Although the facts regarding the trials are yet to be confirmed, if RS Ambrish does get picked up in the IPL 2026 auction, he would be an excellent addition to the team. Their go-to Shivam Dube doesn't bowl as much these days, and that's where Ambrish comes in. Just last week, MS Dhoni and Ruturaj Gaikwad were also in Chennai, to finalize the future plan of action for the team, and possibly Ambrish's case as well. Other than that, reports indicated that TNPL bowler Esakkimuthu A was also summoned for the trials.
