India U19 cricket team skipper Ayush Mhatre has been reportedly picked to captain Mumbai in the upcoming Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament. The 90-over day-night tournament will start on August 17 in Chennai and will serve as a warm-up tournament ahead of India's domestic cricket season, which will start with the Duleep Trophy on August 28. Times of India quotes 18-year-old Mhatre as having been awarded the captaincy following a good string of performances for domestic cricket and IPL 2025. He had just led the India U19 team on the tour of England, where he had scored two centuries during the unofficial Tests against the England Lions. Mumbai will start their campaign in the Buchi Babu Tournament against Tamil Nadu Districts XI on August 18. Mumbai team will also have Sarfaraz Khan along with his younger brother Musheer Khan. Sarfaraz, who lost 17 kgs in preparation for the India vs England Test series but failed to get picked for national selection, has been in good shape in the Kanga League, scoring 61 runs for Parkophene CC recently.
