India U-19 defeated Australia U-19 by 51 runs in the second Youth ODI at the Ian Healy Oval in Brisbane on September 24 to take an unbeatable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. The Australian captain, Yash Deshmukh, won the toss and chose to bowl first. His counterpart was sent back by Will Byrom on the second delivery of the match, providing the Aussies with a stunning start. Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Vihaan Malhotra, however, steadied the vessel by playing counter-attacking cricket. Suryavanshi hit five fours and six sixes in his scintillating 70-run innings off 68 balls. When he struck his fifth six, he surpassed Unmukt Chand's record of most sixes in Youth ODIs. Rajasthan Royals' batter was bowled out in the 19th over by Deshmukh. Vedant Trivedi came in to bat at No. 4, and he got a good start but could not make the most of it. The right-handed batter was out for 26 off 33 balls. India U19 found themselves in a spot of trouble, deteriorating from 198/3 to 214/6. Abhigyan Kundu, though, kept the innings intact, scoring 71 from 64 balls. India were finally bowled out for 300 in 49.4 overs. Byrom was the best among the bowlers, securing three wickets in 10 overs, conceding 47 runs. After the latter was removed in the 12th over, Steven Hogan and Turner steadied the innings. But Hogan, Turner, and Deshmukh were sent back in rapid succession, the hosts collapsing to 64/4 in 21 overs. Alex Lee Young and Jayden Draper forged a solid stand of 42 runs. But Young and John James departed in successive overs. Jayden Draper and Aryan Sharma at 109/6 played dashing cricket to provide Australia with hopes of a jaw-dropping victory. Together, they put on 112 off only 75 balls. Indian captain Mhatre rose to the occasion and gave the much-needed breakthrough, dispatching Draper to the hut for a 72-ball 107. Aryan Sharma was removed for 38 off 44 balls before Australia were finally bowled out for 249 in 47.2 overs. They were defeated by 51 runs. Mhatre was the star with 3/27 in four overs.
