Australian bowler Josh Hazlewood is likely to miss the remainder of the 2025 Indian Premier League. The tournament was stopped abruptly due to Pakistan's aggression at India's border. While many are still anxious about the situation, Hazlewood had medical issues. The tournament is likely to resume within a week, and the players were asked to recollect as soon as possible. Hazlewood had missed Royal Challenger's Bengaluru's match against Chennai Super Kings on March 3. Later, he informed that he had been attending the rehab in RCB camp. Earlier he had suffered some calf injury during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and had to miss the majority of the tournament. He also missed the Sri Lanka tour and later the Champions Trophy hosted by Pakistan. However, the Cricket Australia is not paying much attention to his niggle, as ESPN Cricinfo has learned that he will be included in the squad for Australia against South Africa in the World Test Championship final. Australia is likely to have a conditioning camp in the UK in the first week of June, prior to the WTC final and Hazlewood will take part in that too. A ceasefire announced on May 10 raises hopes for the league's quick return. Thirteen league matches, including one abandoned fixture, remain before the four playoff games, with the final originally scheduled for May 25 in Kolkata. A major challenge for the BCCI is the return of several overseas players and coaching staff who left India following the suspension. Australian stars like Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Travis Head must decide whether to return, considering the upcoming World Test Championship final at Lord's starting June 11. Starc's Delhi Capitals are still in the playoff race, while Cummins and Head are with teams already out of contention. New Zealand players, except Mitchell Santner and Bevon Jacobs, have returned home, while South Africa’s participation is yet to be confirmed.
