The men's and women's teams of Australian cricketers were in attendance at Melbourne's Crown Palladium on Monday night, February 3, for the Awards Ceremony. It was an event that commemorated the best performances during the 2023-24 cricket season across all formats as the men's and women's national teams enjoyed great wins. The man of the night was Travis Head, who was the Allan Border Medal winner. He has improved significantly over the last 18 months and won the Men's ODI Player of the Year award with 14 votes ahead of Alex Carey and Steve Smith. The southpaw is currently in the island nation Sri Lanka for a Test series, and he received the award from coach Andrew McDonald, who delivered it to him remotely after getting 208 votes. Annabel Sutherland received the Belinda Clark Medal as the highest female award. She made history, scoring a century in the MCG Test against England and winning a place on the honor board. Beth Mooney topped the list of most T20I runs in 2024 by an Australian Women and was crowned as T20I Player of the Year. Josh Hazlewood became the Shane Warne Men's Test Player of the Year and claimed 30 wickets while conceding runs at an average of just 13.17 with two five-wicket hauls. Travis Head was also recognized for his dominant ODI performance during Australia’s UK tour, including an unbeaten 154 in the first ODI. Meanwhile, Adam Zampa was named Men’s T20 International Player of the Year after a stellar year that saw him take 35 wickets, 14 more than any other bowler. Glenn Maxwell and Cooper Connolly shared the award for Player of the Tournament, as in Big Bash League action, Maxwell hammered 297 runs at a blitzing strike rate of 194.12 to finish with while Connolly scored over 50 and anchored Perth Scorchers' batting throughout the tournament. In the Women's Big Bash League, the Player of the Tournament award went to Jess Jonassen and Ellyse Perry, who together controlled the run charts with 424 runs at an average of 53 as Perry led while Jonassen also contributed with bat and ball by taking 14 wickets and scoring 174 runs for Brisbane Heat. Cameron Green won the Community Impact Award for his effort to raise awareness about chronic kidney disease. He dedicated over 100 hours to supporting Kidney Health Australia and allowed his own experience to inspire others to get tested.
