Young Australian opener Nathan McSweeney has failed to deliver in the BGT 2024-25 as expected, and that cost him an early exit from the team’s squad for the remaining matches. He was continuously failed against the Indian bowling lineup led by Jasprit Bumrah, as the star Indian pacer got him most of the times the Australian batter came to bat. Cricket Australia announced their squad for the remaining test match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. They dropped their opener Nathan McSweeney, and they have named another young opener, Sam Konstas, for the bigger stage. They have also left out Josh Hazlewood, as he suffered an injury in the Gabba Test. Talented pacer Jhye Richardson has replaced him in the squad. Nathan McSweeney Fails to Make a Mark on the Series Before the start of the series, McSweeney was the first one suited for the opening position against India in BGT, even though he had not opened in his career, and that resulted in his big failure against India. He totally looked out of clue against Jasprit Bumrah, who troubled him in all six innings. He could only make 72 runs in six innings. He looked good only in the first inning of the pink ball Test, where he scored 39 runs.
