The Asian Cricket Council has reportedly increased the prize money for the champions of the Asia Cup 2025. Several reports are suggesting that the winning team of the tournament will be given USD 3,00,000, which is 2.6 crore in Indian currency. The runners-up team will receive USD 1,50,000 that INR 1.25 crore. In the previous edition of the Asia Cup, that is, in 2023, India won the tournament and received USD 200,000 as the Prize money. ACC hasn't officially finalized the prize money amount for the 2025 edition. However, if finalized, it will be a hike of almost 50%. Notably, The Asia Cup 2025 is starting today, at Abu Dhabi, as Afghanistan faces Hong Kong in the opening match. India will start their campaign in Dubai against the host, the United Arab Emirates. The final match of the tournament will be played on September 28. Keeping in mind the 2026 ICC T20 Men's World Cup hosted by India and Sri Lanka, the 2025 Asia Cup will be played in the T20 format. While India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan secured direct entry to the tournament, teams like UAE, Oman and Hong Kong had to secure the top three spots in the ACC premier Cup for qualification. India, the defending champions and eight-time Asia Cup winners, enter the tournament as strong favourites once again. With Suryakumar Yadav at the helm, the team aims to showcase depth and resilience despite the absence of experienced campaigners Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Their campaign begins against the UAE on September 10, followed by a high-voltage clash with Pakistan on September 14 in Dubai, a fixture bound to capture worldwide interest. India will conclude the group stage against Oman in Abu Dhabi.
