Indian cricket fans are angry after Jasprit Bumrah elected himself as the "fittest cricketer in the team" over Virat Kohli. In a recent chat, Bumrah mentioned that he wanted to promote fast bowlers by choosing himself. Bumrah said, “I know the answer you are searching for, but I would like to say my name, because I am a fast bowler. I have been playing for a while…and being a fast bowler and playing in this country in the beat takes a lot of requirements. So I will always promote a fast bowler.” This sparked a cyber war between the fans of both players. The veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin commented on this debate as well, requesting the fans not to make this a big issue and termed Bumrah as the "crown jewel of Indian cricket". Ashwin said on his newly-launched YouTube channel 'Ash Ki Baat', "Why do you want to make a big deal out of it? Jasprit Bumrah is a fast bowler who bowls at 145 kmph in this heat. He is the crown jewel of Indian cricket like the Kohinoor diamond. Let him say whatever he wants. There is a huge difference between a tipper lorry and a Mercedes Benz. The Mercedes Benz needs to be handled with care as its parts are very costly. A tipper lorry will have to travel long distances without rest." "A fast bowler is like a tipper lorry. It breaks down sometimes. However, even after so much stress, Bumrah came back and bowled at 145 kmph. Give some credit to him," India strengthened its number one position in the World Test Championship points table with a 280-run win over Bangladesh. On the other hand, Sri Lanka also won against New Zealand in the first test. These victories changed the table, and Sri Lanka moved to third spot above New Zealand. India, by winning in Chennai, took 12 WTC points which increased their point percentage to 71.67%. Australia remains second with 62.50%. Bangladesh who had been fourth with a point percentage of 39.29% dropped to sixth position. The second and last Test between India and Bangladesh starts on September 27. Team India is hoping to win again and dominate the series. After this, India will play three Tests against New Zealand and five Tests against Australia. To have a good chance of reaching the WTC Final, India needs to win at least 6 out of their next 9 matches.
