A much-needed spark was given to Delhi Capitals by Ashutosh Sharma. By the end of the 8th over, the Sunrisers Hyderabad seemed to be in full control. By now, Delhi had collapsed to 30/5, with all the top five batsmen-Karun Nair, Faf du Plessis, Abhishek Sharma, KL Rahul, and Axar Patel-back in the dugout. The bad situation did not deter the Delhi team from putting up a fight. But winning was another matter altogether. Tristan Stubbs and Vipraj Nigam tried to consolidate the innings; they wanted to survive till the 15th over and then start accelerating. Planning is easy but execution is always difficult. As both Stubbs and Vipraj were settling down to build a stand, an unfortunate run-out ended the partnership. It seemed that the run-out was the turning point in Delhi's fortunes. Ashutosh came in and changed the momentum. He attacked the bowlers while Stubbs was the supporting cast. Suddenly, Delhi was running upwards of six an over. Few more booming strikes in the 17th over took the Axar Patel-led side past 100. By the time he departed in the last over, Delhi had reached 128. Combining for 66 runs in 7.3 overs, Ashutosh smashed 41 off just 26 balls. On the contrary, Stubbs was forced to play a different role, as he took an entire 10 balls more to achieve the same tally. Ashutosh was not only Delhi's highest run-getter but also had the highest strike rate. Maybe things could have been different had Ashutosh walked in early; however, entering the fray in the 13th over did suit him perfectly. Delhi had made him a finisher, and he did show good impact yet again.
