Ashish Nehra has been fined 25% of his match fee for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during Gujarat Titans’ last-ball win over Mumbai Indians at Wankhede on Tuesday. The GT head coach was also handed one demerit point for behaviour deemed "contrary to the spirit of the game" under Article 2.20 of the IPL’s disciplinary regulations. Nehra’s actions came during a tense, rain-hit finish to the match. With GT needing 15 off the last over after multiple stoppages, the coach appeared visibly animated near the boundary. While the IPL did not specify the exact nature of his offence, officials confirmed it occurred during the final stretch of the contest. The official statement released by IPL read: "Ashish Nehra, Head Coach, Gujarat Titans, has been fined 25 per cent of his match fees and has also accumulated one demerit point for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct. He admitted to the Level 1 offence under Article 2.20 - which pertains to the conduct that is contrary to the spirit of the game - and accepted the Match Referee’s sanction. For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding." This is only the second time in IPL history that a coach has been hit with a demerit point. The first instance came earlier this season when Delhi Capitals’ bowling coach Munaf Patel was penalised following a Super Over win against Rajasthan Royals.
