Cricket Australia believes that the hard-hitting tone of the current Test series between England and India will have a positive effect on the demand for venue tickets of the eagerly-anticipated Ashes series, which is to start later in the year. The chief executive officer of the country's cricket association, Todd Greenberg, had something to say on the same just recently. He appeared to be really enthusiastic about the competition where two age-old foes clash in the historically strong Test series. Here is what stated Greenberg, as quoted by the Sydney Morning Herald: “It’s great, isn’t it? It’s great cricket (England vs India series for Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy) to watch as a fan. Everyone will have their opinion when our English friends arrive, I’m sure, and we’re looking forward to that very much. I love the way they’re playing their cricket and I can’t wait to see them test themselves on our shores,” Greenberg also revealed that pre-sale Ashes tickets have already sold twice as much as those for the last Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The close-fought five-match series had garnered a gross attendance of 837,879. It was the biggest ever red-ball event in Australian cricket history, with the exception of the Ashes. CA has stated that the opening day tickets for all five Australia-England matches at Perth, Brisbane, Adelaide, Melbourne, and Sydney are about to be sold out. Day 1–3 tickets at the Gabba, Adelaide Oval, and SCG are also estimated to have hit a full stadium capacity, which is excellent from a money and fan interest perspective. England and India face off in the ultimate showdown There have been tensions running high across the ongoing series between Indian and English players going all-out against each other. The Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir's recent altercation with Lee Fortis—the chief pitch curator of The Oval, only contributed to the tensions. The five-match Ashes series against Australia is to be played from November 21 this year. The battle with Australia would follow a couple of weeks after the white-ball tour (three ODIs, five T20Is) against India. The last Ashes series between the sworn adversaries concluded in a 2-2 tie in 2023. That series took place in England. The Ashes were last won by England in Australia ages ago in the 2010/11 season.
