Former India fast bowling coach Bharat Arun expressed doubts about Arshdeep Singh's match fitness in the build-up to the Asia Cup 2025 in the UAE. The left-arm pacer, who is one wicket away from becoming the first Indian to have 100 T20I wickets, has not played an international match since February 2025. Bharat Arun on Arshdeep Singh's Match Fitness Arshdeep impressed against England prior to the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 and got a complete Indian Premier League season. But he played no part in India's five-Test tour of England and just played a single Duleep Trophy match before being part of the Asia Cup team. To PTI, Bharan Arun said: "Arshdeep, we all know what he is capable of doing. He must have bowled a lot in England, but he is definitely short of match practice. The rhythm really comes from playing matches, no matter how much you bowl in the net and practice sessions." It's a big challenge for Arshdeep. How quickly he gets back his match rhythm would be very, very important. It can be in a jiffy, or it can take him a couple of matches to get into rhythm." T20I Milestone Within Reach Arshdeep Singh has picked 99 wickets in 63 T20I matches. One more scalp during the Asia Cup 2025 will get him to 100 T20I wickets, and he would become the first Indian bowler to achieve this feat. India find themselves in Group A with UAE, Oman, and the arch-nemesis Pakistan. With India being touted as heavy favourites to win the Asia Cup 2025, Arshdeep's performance will be under scrutiny, both for his milestone and the manner in which he picks up rhythm in match conditions.
