Red-ball domestic season has started in India and cricketers around the country are witnessing it. There are few who look for a place on the Indian Test team, most will fight for space in their respective domestic teams for a Ranji Trophy appearance. The son of cricket great Sachin Tendulkar, Arjun Tendulkar, is causing stir in domestic cricket. At the age of 24, the fast bowler playing for Goa had a brilliant outing in the KSCA Invitational (Dr (Capt) K Thimmappiah Memorial Tournament). Playing for Goa CA XI against Karnataka, he took nine wickets in the match as his team emerged winner by an innings and 189 runs. While Arjun Tendulkar, bowling in the first innings, took 5 wickets for 41 runs in 13 overs. Karnataka was bowled out for 103 in 36.5 overs. Goa responded by putting up 413 runs on the board, thanks to Abhinav Tejrana's century (109) and Manthan Khutkar's half-century 69. When Karnataka was leading by 310 runs, they were bowled out for 121 in 30.4 overs with Tendulkar taking 4 wickets for 46 runs in 13.3 overs of the second innings. Arjun made his Ranji Trophy debut for Goa in the 2022/23 season. He has played 13 first-class matches, taking 21 wickets with an average of 45.19. Tendulkar has played five games for the Mumbai Indians in IPL. That, by itself, makes he and Sachin the first father-son duo to have played in the tournament. He appeared in four games during 2023 and once in 2024. His first IPL wicket came in a game against Sunrisers Hyderabad where he defended 20 runs in the final over. After that, his father, Sachin, who was the first-ever captain of MI, joked and stated "Finally, a Tendulkar has an IPL wicket."
