Delhi prodigy Anuj Rawat has skipped Delhi's ongoing Ranji Trophy preparation to join the Gujarat Titans pre-season training at Surat. The Gujarat Titans too, in an official statement, have announced that Rawat has been attending the camp along with Ishant Sharma, Jayant Yadav, Kumar Kushagra, Mahipal Lomror, and Arshad Khan. On the other side, the Delhi team is training at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. Delhi will be facing Saurashtra on January 23, in the second phase of the Ranji Trophy. The Delhi training session has collided with that of IPL. However, the players are required to seek permission from their respective boards to skip the training session. But Rawat has been alleged to not even inform the board members. A senior DDCA official told PTI that various players have mailed officially seeking requests, but there was no such mail from Anuj Rawat. DDCA secretary Ashok Sharma said, "I have no knowledge that Anuj has skipped the ongoing Ranji Trophy camp to attend the IPL team's camp. Ideally, he needs to take permission from the state association. We have two Ranji games left. I don't know who gave him the permission to skip the Ranji Trophy camp." The former RCB-ian Arjun Rawat violated the norms; however, the situation is otherwise for Ishant Sharma. Ishant Sharma is the other Delhi cricketer who joined the GT camp but has retired from Test cricket. Thus, he does not require any formal permission to join the IPL camp. Speaking about him, Alok Sharma said, "Ishant doesn't need DDCA's permission since he has retired from Ranji Trophy cricket." Gujarat Titans acquired the wicketkeeper batter Anuj Rawat for the base price of 30 lakhs in the IPL mega auction 2025.
