Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have added former West Indies fast bowler Ottis Gibson to their coaching staff as an assistant coach for the upcoming IPL 2025 season. Gibson replaces Ryan ten Doeschate, who departed after IPL 2024 to join Gautam Gambhir’s support staff for the Indian men’s team. With this appointment, KKR continues to make strategic changes following their championship-winning season last year. The franchise has already seen major transitions, including the release of captain Shreyas Iyer and the departure of key coaching staff members. Ajinkya Rahane has been named the new captain, with Venkatesh Iyer as his deputy, while Dwayne Bravo has taken over as mentor following Gambhir’s exit. Gibson brings a wealth of coaching experience to the team. The 54-year-old has been a prominent figure in international cricket, having served as head coach of both the West Indies and South Africa men's teams. He also had two stints as England’s bowling coach and worked with the Bangladesh national side. Apart from international coaching, Gibson has been part of various T20 franchises, adding to his expertise in the format.
