The 23-year-old bowling allrounder of Australia Women's cricket team, Annabel Sutherland, has made it into the history books with her brilliant century in the Only Test of the ongoing Women's Ashes, 2025. Sutherland was promoted to bat at No. 3 after the Aussie veteran Ellyse Perry suffered a hip injury while fielding on Day 1. However, she has been cleared to bat if the team requires her to step in. Sutherland started the second session while she was at the score of 24 and England's bowlers created a couple of chances in the opening session, but Sutherland survived and took her score to 71 at Tea, thanks to the dropped catches. The all-rounder made the opportunity count, scoring a century in the second session and her 100 came in 193 balls including 14 fours and 1 six. With this ton, she became the player with most Test centuries for Australia Women, equaling to record of Betty Wilson and Jill Kennare who has also score three centuries in Test cricket. Sutherland also became the only women cricketer to score a Test century at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). At the time of writing this piece, Sutherland is batting at 135* off 233 with the help of 18 fours and 1 six and she would be aiming to score the second double-century of her Test career. Australia Women is at 278 for 3 after losing a wicket of Alyssa Healy (34) in the second session. Sutherland and Mooney will resume the innings post Dinner and they would try adding as many runs as possible to this 108 runs lead. They have already defeated England Women 3-0 in both the ODI and T20I series and if they manage to whitewash them by hand them a defeat in the Test as well, it will happen for the first time after the Women's Ashes was transformed to a multi-format series since 2013
