The Indian men's Cricket Team denying to play their only practice match to give much time to the nets ahead of the Border Gavaskar Trophy has spurred questions in the mind of former Indian head coach Anil Kumble. A practice match was scheduled against India A ahead of the first Test of BGT. But the senior team has decided not to go for it but to practice at WACA in Perth. The decision to practice at WACA is because its pitch resembles that in Optus Stadium. The later will host the first Test starting from November 22nd. He firmly believes that playing a match would have been more fruitful than just being in the nets, especially while entering a cruicial Test series. On a JioCinema show, Kumble stated his standpoint, “I'm a bit surprised that India don't have a practice match going into the first Test because that would have been an ideal preparation. No matter how much you practice in the nets, going out in the middle and facing a few bowlers in the match is totally different." Dhruv and KL joined India A after humbling defeat to NZ India faced a crushing defeat against New Zealand. Initially it was a rain-affected first test at Bengaluru, followed by turning tracks in Pune and Mumbai that wiggled the Indian batting. After the series, the substitute keeper Dhruv Jurel, along with KL Rahul, traveled to Australia to join the India A team. They will play the second unofficial Test starting on November 7 at MCG. A 2-0 clean sweep, followed by a dissapointing historic defeat to New Zealand, has brought their WTC qualification in question.
