London Spirit have made a significant boost for the 2026 season of The Hundred with the appointment of Andy Flower as their new men's head coach. Flower is reunited with director of cricket Mo Bobat, whom he recently helped Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) win their first-ever IPL title earlier this year. Flower takes over from Justin Langer, who departed after one season in the role, during which Spirit finished seventh out of eight squads. A New Era Under Andy Flower MCC and the 'Tech Titans' consortium, comprising senior executives from Google, YouTube, Microsoft, and Adobe, took control of operations earlier this week. With new management at the helm, Flower's appointment heralds a fresh era. Bobat justified the move, stating: "I'm delighted that we've been able to secure Andy's services as our men's head coach. Andy and I have enjoyed a strong working relationship in the past, and I'm looking forward to building something special with him at London Spirit as we enter this new and exciting phase for the franchise." Flower, previously at Trent Rockets for five years and leading them to the championship in 2022, stated he had enjoyed his Rockets stint but looked forward to the new challenge. Flower said: "It's a real privilege to be part of such an iconic venue and organisation. I'm also thrilled to be working once again with Mo, and for the first time with both MCC and the Tech Titans." They have won a mere 12 out of their 38 completed games in the competition to date. Their best spell was in 2022 when they made it to the knockout stages under captain Eoin Morgan. This season, Langer promoted Kane Williamson as the captain and shared the new wicket with David Warner at the top order, but the team won only three games out of eight. The dismal run guaranteed they ended in second-last position. What's Next for the Spirit? MCC have also undergone structural reorganization at the board level. Donna-Maria Cullen, who has recently left her post as an executive director at Tottenham Hotspur, has joined the Spirit board. The others are Julian Metherell, Rob Lawson, and Morgan as MCC representatives, with the Tech Titans having Nikesh Arora (Palo Alto Networks), Satyan Gajwani (Times Internet), and Egon Durban (Silver Lake) as their board members. The franchise announced they would keep the London Spirit name in the new season, although a brand update is in the pipeline. The new look could see MCC's egg-and-bacon colours added into the team kit as part of the revamp. Under the leadership of Andy Flower, Spirit supporters will hope the men's team can at last emulate the success of their women's team and turn their fortunes around in The Hundred.
