Australian batter Sam Konstas was involved in a heated argument just before the last ball on Day 1 of the fifth Test between Australia and India. Head coach Andrew McDonald commented on the matter, saying it was up to the officials to decide what action to take. To those not familiar with it, the non-striker was Konstas on the last ball of the day, who claims the Indian team told him at the other end was the striker, Usman Khawaja, who was taking unnecessarily long to mark his guard for the delivery to come. Here is what McDonald stated, as quoted by The Indian Express "Considering there have been no charges on the Indian team, clearly it’s acceptable behaviour because there were no fines or punishments. It’s up to the match referee, if this is acceptable behaviour or not. My conversation with Sam was about checking in with him. Clearly the Indian celebration was intimidating, with all of them swarming in. So, just wanted to make sure he’s okay," Once Bumrah conveyed his annoyance to that effect, Konstas went about his duties of raising his voice for a few words at Bumrah, not really enjoying himself at it. When Bumrah took the wicket of Khawaja, he semi-charged towards Konstas, and the entire slip cordon and the team swarmed around Konstas to celebrate the dismissal. The recent one was when he was shouldered by Virat Kohli on his Test debut at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. India bowled Australia out for 181 with a great team effort. By the end of the day, India had scored 141 runs losing six wickets. Rishabh Pant's quick 61 runs gave much-needed momentum to the innings. India would be looking to score as many as possible to the total before considering how they might win to square the series.
