In a sudden twist of events, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced that the IPL 2025 match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will no longer take place on April 6 as originally scheduled. The match, initially set to be hosted in Kolkata, was shifted to Guwahati due to the police's concerns about managing security for the Rama Navami festivities in the city. However, after further deliberations, the match has been moved back to Eden Gardens. Kolkata will retain the hosting rights, but the match will now be played on April 8, 2025, with a new start time of 3:30 PM. The Kolkata Police Department had originally requested the relocation of the match, citing the need to deploy forces for the ongoing festivities. While the authorities initially assured that no changes would be made to the date, the situation took a turn, prompting the rescheduling. The change also comes in light of a similar scenario from last year when KKR's match against Rajasthan Royals was rescheduled due to similar concerns. This year, in an effort to simplify the schedule, a few other match dates have also been adjusted. April 6 will now feature just one match, with Sunrisers Hyderabad taking on Gujarat Titans at 7:30 PM, as originally planned. The revised April 8 will become a double-header day, with KKR facing LSG in the afternoon in Kolkata. Following this, Punjab Kings will play Chennai Super Kings in the evening in New Chandigarh, as per the initial schedule. The BCCI's official statement confirmed the rescheduling, emphasizing that the rest of the IPL fixtures remain unaffected. This move ensures that Kolkata will still have the opportunity to host the eagerly anticipated match, despite the last-minute changes to the calendar. Fans can now mark April 8 as the new date for the exciting clash between KKR and LSG, with both teams looking to set the stage on fire at Eden Gardens. IPL issued a statement which stayed, "The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announces the rescheduling of Match No. 19 of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), originally scheduled for Sunday, April 6, 2025, at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. The decision follows a request from Kolkata Police to the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) regarding the deployment of personnel across the city owing to festivities. The authorities have recommended that the game be moved to Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at 3:30 PM, and the request has been accommodated accordingly. The rest of the schedule remains unchanged." It added, "For clarity, Sunday, April 6, will now be a single-header match day, with Sunrisers Hyderabad hosting Gujarat Titans at 7:30 PM (Match No. 20) as originally scheduled. Tuesday, April 8, will be a double-header match day, featuring the KKR vs. LSG fixture in the afternoon in Kolkata, followed by Punjab Kings hosting Chennai Super Kings (Match No. 22) in New Chandigarh in the evening, as per the original schedule."
