While the BCCI said that there was a technical issue, Rajeev Shukla, vice-president of the BCCI, and Arun Dhumal, chairman of the IPL, both said that the match was abandoned due to security issues. Rayudu’s timing for the post rubbed a great deal of people the wrong way given the entire country stood together in and united behind the government and armed forces and he shared his message on X (Twitter) which put out a tidal wave of backlash. Former India opener Virender Sehwag also posted on X, although he was praised by many fans through his post for displaying a strong sense of patriotism, unlike Rayudu. In parallel, the governing council of IPL has convened a meeting to decide how to proceed with the tournament. The BCCI is also sending a special train to Dharamsala to evacuate players for safety readiness.
