The Indian women's team captain Harmanpreet Kaur is often said to have a bad temper, engaging in verbal feuds, sometimes with opponents and sometimes with her own teammates. However, being named as a wrong reference for this was not in her books. Recently, the Bangladesh women's team captain, Nigar Sultana Jyoti, has dragged Harman's name while defending her own name from the ongoing physical harassment claims. Jyoti attended an interview with Daily Cricket, where she directly named Harmanpreet Kaur while saying she would never be like the Indian captain. Jyoti said, "Why would I hit anyone? I mean, why would I strike the stumps with my bat? Am I Harmanpreet, that I would go around hitting the stumps like that? Why would I do it? In my personal space, if I’m cooking or something, I might bang my bat around, I might hit my helmet — that’s my own business. But why would I do something like that to someone else? Why would I get physical? Just because someone says so? You can ask the other players or anyone else whether I’ve ever done anything like that." Notably, Harmanpreet made a bad name during the 2023 Bangladesh tour, where she not only smashed the stumps while getting out but also called out the umpires for the trophysession calling it "bad umpiring." She further added that she was not even at the head but had several board members, coaching staff and team managers to listen. "What I mean is, if this player had a problem, why would she call Jahanara apu all the way in Australia? She could’ve shared it with anyone here.” Well, the veteran Bangladeshi bowler Jahanara Alam claimed that players used to call her and say that Joyti slapped juniors. As per Alam, the juniors were afraid of Jyoti and could not speak against her. Not only that, but she further mentioned the ignorance of BCB board members regarding several complaints and drew attention to how she had been sexually harassed by the members—allegations the board is currently examining despite the accused ones denying them. Jahanara Alam is currently on a mental health break. Meanwhile, Jyoti led the Bangladesh women's team in the 2025 ICC Women's ODI World Cup. In the tournament, hosted by India and Sri Lanka, Bangladesh could manage just a win, even though they showed great fight in the tournament.
