The 28-year-old bowler Akash Deep has revealed his plans against Travis Head for the coming Test at Melbourne. Travis Head, the Australian middle-order batter, has been a total headache for India, the sole reason for India's 10-wicket loss at Adelaide. He smashed two consecutive centuries—140 at Adelaide and 152 at the Gabba. On the other hand, Akash Deep, who was excluded in the first two Tests, was pretty decent at bowling at Gabba. Even if he could manage one wicket at the end of the first inning, he gave good support to the key bowler of India, Jasprit Bumrah. Speaking about his game plan against Head, during the practice session on December 22, Akash told the media, "As pacers, we will stick to the same deliveries and maintain discipline in our bowling. We will bowl from both over and around the wicket, assess the pitch and conditions, and plan accordingly. I think Travis Head, in particular, struggles against short balls. We won’t let him settle at the crease. We’ll target specific areas and hope to force him into mistakes, which will create chances for us." Rohit Sharma came in the second Test, got defeated by 10 wickets at Adelaide, and was hugely criticized for his defensive approach against Travis Head. Head, along with Marnus Labuschagne (64), scored 337 against India in the second innings, that way beyond India's reach, who managed 180 and 175 respectively. Similar things happened at the Gabba when the Australians put in a mammoth total of 445, and this time it was Steve Smith (101) and later Alex Carey (70) who tormented Indians along with Head. It was the arrival of rain that made the umpire conclude the match early with a draw.
