The Indian Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI) will release the team for the coming two-Test series against the West Indies on Thursday, September 25. The opening Test will be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad from October 2-6 and the second match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi from October 10-14. As reported by The Times of India's Gaurav Gupta, BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar will declare the team on Thursday afternoon in Dubai. India have made a solid beginning to their World Test Championship (WTC) journey in the 2025-2027 cycle, finishing a five-match series 2-2 against England in England. Shubman Gill steered a young Indian squad from the front, scoring 754 runs in 10 innings at a rate of 75.40. The Men in Blue won in Birmingham and London. They would seek full points from the Caribbean side. India would, however, like to erase their memories of their recent home Test series against New Zealand, when they lost 3-0 towards the end of last year. The West Indies began their WTC journey with a series against Australia in June-July. The Roston Chase-led team lost all three matches in the one-sided home series. India and the West Indies have played 100 matches in the longest version of the game. The Asian team has won 23 matches, while the Caribbean side has won 30 and 47 matches were drawn. Their previous encounter in the red-ball version was during July 2023 in the Caribbean. India took the two-Test series 1-0. This was the same series that saw Yashasvi Jaiswal's international debut. The left-hander hammered 171 off 387 deliveries in Roseau, Dominica, during the first Test, scoring 16 fours and a single six.
