Unlike all the other Indian players, Virat Kohli was the only one who didn't come to India for the fitness Tests. Kohli, who has currently shifted his base to London, had his fitness Tests done there. This had created a lot of controversies, with many claiming that he got some unfair advantages. However, when asked about this to the BCCI Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar during the squad selection press conference, Agarkar said he and the other selectors don't have much idea about that. All he knows is that they have passed the tests. Details are with the BCCI strength and conditioning coach Adrin de Roux. Speaking to the press, Agarkar said, "I think they have both done their fitness tests or the fitness norms that have been suggested. Again, I wish Adrian were here or somebody from the team were there. As far as I know or the selectors know, they have gone through the required norms that have been put in place." Generally, before selection, we provide the COE with names, who then inform us about the fitness status of all the players. And everyone who has been picked has been declared fit and available." Notably, there was that phase at the BCCI centre of Excellence from before the 2025 Asia Cup when players were visiting the venue for the fitness Tests. The tests were conducted in several steps. Players like Shreyas Iyer, Jasprit Bumrah, Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya, KL Rahul and even Rohit Sharma attended that and passed those. However, a report from Dainik Jagaran claimed that representatives of BCCI are traveling to London, where Kohli underwent his own fitness Tests.
