Former Indian cricket player Ajay Jadeja has predicted four players Chennai Super Kings might retain ahead of the IPL 2025 auction. The IPL recently released a set of rules stating the regulations for the upcoming auction and season. Direct Retention, along with the Right to Match (RTM) card, means that a franchise is permitted to retain up to six players. There can be a combination of both, but in this case, teams can retain a maximum of five capped players, comprising Indian players as well as foreign ones, plus two uncapped players at max. On JioCinema, Jadeja said: "One is MS Dhoni for sure. There is no doubt about that because firstly he has become an uncapped player now and he has shown for so many years that he doesn't desire to be No. 1 or No. 2 to make the team. So there is no doubt at that value. Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad had a good year, so you will want to keep him as well. You cannot leave Ravindra, I am not talking about Rachin, I am talking about Jadeja. I feel these three are perfect for them." Also Read | IPL 2025: Two-Year Ban Slapped on Overseas Players for Auction Withdrawals Before the auction, Jadeja said that CSK will surely retain MS Dhoni. He also added that the team would retain captain Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ravindra Jadeja, who is an all-rounder. He added that CSK should not release Sri Lankan pacer Matheesha Pathirana. According to him, Dhoni, Gaikwad, Ravindra Jadeja, and Pathirana are most probably the four retentions, and the two RTMs will be kept preserved for the auction. Jadeja said: "You would not want to leave Pathirana. I am seeing him as one among the overseas players. You need to keep players not because of the money, but their style. So I feel these four will be their main players and they will keep two RTMs."
