Delhi Capitals (DC) stunned everyone by releasing their skipper and star wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant just ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. The Delhi-based franchise said goodbye to their nine-year-old association as the franchise looks for new options under the new head coach, Hemang Badani. This will be only Pant's second experience going into the IPL auction. His stint started way back in 2016 with the Delhi Capitals, then the Delhi Daredevils, when he was an India U19 player. Since then, he has gone on to achieve numerous heights for his IPL team and the Indian. Although, with Pant coming in the auction, there are going to be many teams vying to get his services. Teams such as the Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, looking to enhance their captaincy options and with considerable purses, are likely to hike his stocks considerably. With the southpaw featuring among the marquee players carrying a base price tag of INR 2 crore, it's only going to go all out for him, and this could also unleash huge bid wars. AI feels that the franchise will choose Pant as he is a flexible middle-order batter and a regular wicketkeeper. With Pant's aggressive batting style and leadership experience, he would be a candidate for the five-time champions. AI has also predicted that the approximate final price of the 27-year-old MI might be between INR 12 and 14 crores. Mumbai Indians have always prized multi-dimensional cricketers, and Pant fits that criterion to perfection as well, with the capability of turning games single-handedly.
