India have named an 18-man squad for the forthcoming five-match Test series against England with a few new and exciting faces in the selection. Sai Sudharsan is the latest rising star, earning praise for his standout performances in domestic cricket and franchise leagues. The left-hand batter recently opened up about his interactions with Undia stalwart Virat Kohli. Most importantly, India will be without Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in England since both of them have retired from the longest version of the game. Sudharsan revealed that his most recent conversation with Kohli took place after the IPL 2025 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Here is what Sudharsan was quoted as saying by Times Of India “I just congratulated him after the final, it was a very special moment for him. But I've had a lot of conversations in previous years. What I've always admired about him is his mindset — the obsession that he has for the sport. I have spoken with him regarding those and how he dealt with situations when he was not getting a lot of runs and finding it difficult. I think, as a cricketer, those are the times that you learn most, so I had conversations about that,” Also Read | IND vs ENG Test Series: 5 England Players Who Can Trouble India Sudharsan had said that he had congratulated the legendary batsman after RCB's historic IPL title triumph as they had won against Punjab Kings by six runs in a nail-biting final. The 23-year-old added further that the majority of the talks with Kohli are about keeping himself calm and scoring runs in pressure situations. Sudharsan shares insights gained from Shubman Gill While that is happening, the Indian Test squad will be captained by Shubman Gill, who will make his inaugural appearance as India's red-ball captain in the England tour. Sudharsan played a couple of IPL seasons with Gill as his captain at the Gujarat Titans (GT). Sudharsan and Gill were among runs in the IPL, and the youngster showed what he learned from the Punjab batter. “The biggest thing is the mindset, self-belief, the trust that he has in his ability. I've seen how he manages himself when he's not getting runs — that understanding of the game and life to maintain consistency. Then there are technical discussions as well, which are also helpful,” the IPL 2025 orange cap winner stated.
