After months of drama and social media clashes, Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma’s divorce is finalized. The Bandra Family Court granted them legal separation on Thursday, March 20, marking the end of their high-profile marriage. Both arrived separately at the court, avoiding media interactions. The verdict came after a Bombay High Court directive expedited proceedings, given Chahal’s IPL 2025 commitments with Punjab Kings. The couple had filed for divorce by mutual consent on February 5. However, their request to waive the six-month cooling-off period was initially denied by the family court. The court cited incomplete compliance with settlement terms—Chahal had paid Rs 2.37 crore of the Rs 4.75 crore alimony agreed upon. Additionally, reports from a marriage counselor indicated unresolved mediation efforts, prompting the court to delay the process. Under Section 13B of the Hindu Marriage Act, courts can waive the cooling-off period if there’s no chance of reunion. A day before the final hearing, the High Court instructed the family court to wrap up the case, citing Chahal’s professional commitments. On the day of the verdict, Chahal reached the court first, dressed in casuals and wearing a mask, while Dhanashree arrived an hour later. The hearing proceeded swiftly, and the magistrate granted them divorce in the afternoon. A legal representative confirmed, “Divorce has been done. The marriage is dissolved." Since mid-2022, the couple had been living apart. Public speculation over their relationship intensified due to cryptic social media posts and passive-aggressive interactions. While Chahal remained tight-lipped, Dhanashree’s posts hinted at ongoing tensions. Their divorce now puts an end to months of speculation. Chahal is set to return to training with the Punjab Kings, focusing on IPL 2025. Meanwhile, Dhanashree continues her career in dance and content creation. Both are expected to move forward independently, closing a tumultuous chapter in their lives.
