The 17th edition of the Asia Cup 2025 has arrived, bringing out some fierce rivalry between different nations for over a couple of weeks. The upcoming edition has been scheduled to get underway on Tuesday, September 9, with Afghanistan taking on Hong Kong in the opening match. In the latest development around the tournament, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has announced the match officials for the tournament. Seasoned match referees, including Richie Richardson and Andy Pycroft, have been selected to lead the match officials in the opening match at the Zayed Cricket Stadium on September 9. Furthermore, the ACC has announced the match officials for all the group stage matches commencing from September 9 to 19. The umpire panel includes two umpires from each nation, including India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan. The list of umpires includes Ahmad Pakteen (Afghanistan), Asif Yaqoob (Pakistan), Faisal Afridi (Pakistan), Gazi Sohel (Bangladesh), Izatullah Safi (Afghanistan), Masudur Rahman (Bangladesh), Raveendra Wimalasiri (Sri Lanka), Rohan Pandit (India), Ruchira Palliyaguruge (Sri Lanka) and Virender Sharma (India). The selection committee has opted for Ruchira Palliyaguruge and Masudur Rahman as the two experienced umpires in the high-voltage India-Pakistan Asia Cup 2025 encounter. Ruchira Palliyaguruge hails from Sri Lanka and has been an experienced umpire who has officiated in the 2019 ODI World Cup, whereas Masudur Rahman is from Bangladesh and has officiated in 70+ international games, including both men's and women's cricket.
