The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) is to conduct its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on September 30 in Dubai, only two days following the planned Asia Cup 2025 final. The session, which was unexpectedly adjourned in Dhaka a fortnight ago, will now continue with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi as its chairman. With several controversies dogging the Asia Cup, the session promises to be heated. Asia Cup Issues to Dominate Discussions The agenda has not yet been released, but the Asia Cup 2025 has already generated top talking points. From the handshake issue to the match referee controversy and even Pakistan's threat to withdraw, a number of issues are set to be debated. Adding to the tension is speculation around the trophy presentation. “Another controversy may also be waiting to erupt, depending, of course, on who wins the Asia Cup, who presents the trophy, and how the ceremony eventually pans out,” a senior ACC source indicated. The Women's ODI World Cup opens on the same day in Guwahati, and the top BCCI brass is likely to attend the launch. The BCCI will seal its nominees in its own AGM in Mumbai on September 28. At present, Rajeev Shukla and Ashish Shelar are nominated ACC representatives, and they had both participated in the Dhaka meeting remotely. Vice-President Election on the Agenda The most important issue on the September 30 agenda will be the election of the vice-president of the ACC. The procedure had been pending in Dhaka following resistance from the BCCI. This time around, it is going to be finalized, with Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) secretary general Mubashir Usmani likely to run for the position. With respect to the AGM, the ILT20 organisers have also rescheduled their player auction. Having been fixed for September 30 in Dubai, it will be held on October 1 with Dubai remaining the venue.
