The southpaw of India, Abhishek Sharma, is going all guns blazing in the fifth T20I against England at the Wankhede Stadium. In his innings, the 24-year-old smashed plenty of mesmerizing shots all around park and his excellent striking took him to his second T20I century, that too in just 37 balls. The Indian opener reached his fifty in just 17 balls and he did it with style by smashing a beautiful six down the ground to Jamie Overton. On the first ball of the fifth over, Overton bowled an overpitched delivery, and Sharma thumped it over long-off for a six. On the very next delivery, Sharma lofted yet another pitched up ball by Overton and went straight down the ground for a six. With this six, Abhishek Sharma became the second-fastest player to score a fifty for India. Previously, Yuvraj Singh, the idol of Abhishek, hammered a 12-ball fifty against the same opponent in 2007. He continued wreaking havoc on the English bowlers including their top pacers Jofra Archer and Mark Wood and in the 11th over of the innings, Abhishek Sharma completed his century in just 37 balls to become the second fastest centurion for India in T20Is after Rohit Sharma's 35 ball century against Sri Lanka in 2017. His opening partner in this series, Sanju Samson, is also in the list of fastest centuries in T20Is by Indian with 40-ball ton against Bangladesh. What a knock from #AbhishekSharma! 🙌🏻💥He’s just hit a brilliant century off just 37 balls.📺 Start watching FREE on Disney+ Hotstar: https://t.co/ZbmCtFSvrx#INDvENGOnJioStar 👉 5th T20I LIVE NOW on Disney+ Hotstar & Star Sports! | #KhelAasmani pic.twitter.com/a9yhUUW6kC — Star Sports (@StarSportsIndia) February 2, 2025 Also Read | Services Set Record with 376-0 Chase in Ranji Trophy Fastest T20I Century by Indian Batters Players Balls Against Venue Year Rohit Sharma 35 Sri Lanka Indore 2017 Abhishek Sharma 37 England Mumbai 2025 Sanju Samson 40 Bangladesh Hyderabad 2024 Tilak Varma 41 South Africa Johannesburg 2024 Suryakumar Yadav 45 Sri Lanka Rajkot 2023
