While the Board of Cricket Control in India puts so much importance to the domestic cricket, one of the prime domestic batters, Abhsimanyu Easwaran, has been overlooked for the Test cap despite being called in the team. The former Bengal captain, even though he tries to stay positive, said that it hurts him to not be in the middle despite performances. Easwaran got his maiden call for the Test team on 2022, but didn't get his chance in the playing XI. During the Anderson-Tendulkar series in England, he did not get a chance despite the management giving importance towards a stronger batting lineup. Even though bizarre, Kuldeep Yadav had a reason of not being a batter; Abhimanyu had no reason despite a struggling middle order. Easwaran recently had a chat with the Revsports, where Easwarnan expressed being morose for missing the eleven everytime. However, he didn't even get a call for the West Indies series. He said, “Yes, it does hurt sometimes. You put in all the effort, train hard and the dream is to be in the middle, to perform, to contribute to wins. But I am fortunate to have a solid support system: my family, friends and coach." He is currently looking forward to the coming Ranji season. He added, “They help me stay grounded and motivated. Right now, I am in a good headspace and looking forward to the Ranji season. I try to stay focused on things I can control. Work harder, train better." Notably, Easwaran has played 89 List A matches, scoring 3,857 runs at an average of 47.03, including 9 centuries and 23 fifties, with a top score of 149 and 27 catches. The Bengal star’s opportunities appear restricted due to his age. With emerging talents and Yashasvi Jaiswal performing exceptionally, chances are dwindling. Yet, Easwaran draws motivation from those who debuted internationally after 30.
