Former left-hand spinner Abdur Razzaq has stepped down as selector so that he may run in the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) elections, which are to be organized on October 6. Razzak, who was made a selector in January 2021, purchased the nomination form for the election to the poll for directors on Saturday, September 27, since he desires to represent the Khulna Division in the BCB board room. 25 directors (12 club, 10 Division and District, and two nominated by the NSC and one from category three, i.e., members of other organisations) will be entitled to elect the president. BCB Election Commission published the final list of 191 voters on Friday for the upcoming board of directors' elections. The final list includes councillors of 15 Dhaka-based clubs that were dropped from the draft list, announced on September 23, since they were under investigation by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) for irregularities. The election commissioner further stated that the councillorship of the 15 clubs was awarded since they hadn't been convicted by the ACC yet. The councillorship of Narsingdi district, however, remained unoccupied. The EC also retained ex-BCB president Faruque Ahmed's councillorship as it was satisfied with his reason for the delay in submission. On September 25, the EC held hearings on 38 objections filed over the draft voter list at the BCB office. BCB started giving out the nomination forms for the board of directors election on Saturday at the BCB office between 10:00 am-5:00 pm, while the candidates need to submit the forms the next day (September 28). Razzak is a well-known ex-cricketer in Bangladesh, having played for the country in 13 Tests, 153 ODIs, and 34 T20Is. He had 28, 207, and 43 wickets in the three formats. He played for the Tigers between 2004 and 2018. He also has an ODI half-century to his credit. Bangladesh recently knocked out of the 2025 Asia Cup after defeat at the hands of India and Pakistan in the Super-Four phase of the tournament. They will draw confidence, however, from their dominant victories over Afghanistan and Sri Lanka in the earlier part of the campaign.
