The 22-year-old registered his first T20I century, remaining undefeated on 125 runs, which is the highest score by any South African in men's T20Is. Nicknamed "Mr. 360" for his own remarkable batting talent, AB was quick to congratulate Brevis on social media. But his tweet contained more than mere praise, it had a stinging warning to IPL teams. AB Tweeted: "There was such a golden opportunity for IPL teams to pick up Dewald Brevis at the auction! Missed out badly. CSK either got very lucky, or maybe the biggest master stroke ever. The boy can play @BrevisDewald" Brevis, to everybody's surprise, remained unsold at the IPL 2025 auction. Later in the season, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) acquired him as an injury replacement. AB stated it was "mind boggling" that Brevis wasn't picked originally, given the quality of talent he showed against Australia.
